As You Sow

As You Sow is a non-profit shareholder advocacy organization that uses the power of data and direct corporate engagement to empower shareholders to influence businesses for the better. Their initiatives target issues such as gender inequality, racial justice, climate change, environmental health, and others. They envision a safe, just, and sustainable world for all in which environmental health and human rights are integral to business decision making.

As You Sow was founded in 1992 with the goal of using shareholder power to effect long-term change by defending human rights, eliminating hazardous waste, and connecting investments with ideals. Through shareholder advocacy, coalition building, and novel legal techniques, As You Sow’s mission is to promote environmental and social corporate responsibility. They work directly with business CEOs, senior management, and institutional investors as shareholder advocates to  help firms reduce material risk for all stakeholders from the inside out.

As You Sow collaborates with corporate leaders to design company policies and practices that decrease risk, improve brand image, and boost profits while bringing about beneficial environmental and social change.

Since inception, As You Sow has boosted the shareholder voice to enhance corporate accountability on a wide variety of environmental concerns such as ocean plastics, and the eliminations of forever chemicalsincluding PFAs. More recently it has also focused on social issues including racial justice, diversity, equality, and inclusion, as well as its largest initiative focused on all aspects of climate change including big oil, utilities, pipelies, petrochemical facilities, banks, and insurance companies..
